LYCANTHROPY'S SPELL - SAGATAL | RELEASED: 2007 | LABEL: SABBATH'S FIRE RECODS / THOR'S HAMMER PRODUCTIONS

Written and recorded while winter/spring 2005 the Sagatal 7" EP should belong to the last and therewith most actual material of Lycanthropy's Spell.

Side A starts with the first part of Sagatal and immediately the typical hand Sarmak's is getting more than obvious. Sagatal Part I is a classic Lycanthropy's Spell song: raw, dismal and mournful. Sporadically this atmosphere, created by the slow played and less distorted guitar, is reminding me of Tale Of The Witch (2005er full length Glorification Of The Night) and Full Moon Depression (2005er full length Misanthropic Visions). This calm performed harmonic guitar plays an inconsolable melody, accompanied by this sluggish rhythm. Here and there it's getting slightly faster and more driving, but also in this meanwhile this melancholic melody leading is listened, that is so Sarmak typical.

Part II is more energetic as the first part. The rhythm is thoroughly fast and lively and beyond that the second part contains more vocals, too. By this fastness as the raw sounding and slightly rumbling drumming the song effects harsh, crude and vile especially Sarmak's singing is doing its best thereto, because the screaming is catching and emotional.

Sagatal is a typical Lycanthropy's Spell release that holds ready two very different songs. The first part is bleak and full of depression; the second is rough and fast. Sagatal is definitely not the best material, but it's respectable and Sarmak typical. Besides all, Sagatal is the first vinyl release, what is an entire special purchase attraction for enthusiast like me.
