HATEFUL METAL: Hello. Perhaps initially you should say a few words about Scared,because in Germany the band isn´t much popular.

SCARED: Scared was formed in late 1997.Band started to play grindcore music.The members were Maxa (drums), Bunika (Vocals), Marko (Guitar) and Visa (bass). Because Scared was not too serious band and we played gigs with no rehearsals in some pigsty places Visa left the band and Sloba take his place. Soon after that, band started to practise more often and recorded a first demo called"Ja imam noz" which means "I ve got the knife".The music on that demo is in goregrind way.Two years after that (2000) band recorded a second demo called Bangla borca with more progressive sound than the first one.


Does the new publication from Klasma Records represent to republication of the two demos, since they already originated in to 1998 and 2000, or did give it before simply no possibility of the publication?

Well I must admit you I really dont know whether Micha from Klasma rec. finished this release. I did not see scared demos on Klasma distro list yet but I hope that this will happen soon. We wanted to publish both demos because first one is 17 minutes long and second one few minutes longer so best way was to put them together.
I find out that Degeneration song from first demo was on many grind/crust/death compilation but still we did not got a chance to publish this demo. After second demo was recorded Milan from Androphagous (cult serbian deathmetal band) wanted to publish both demos but we have some problems with prints, Milan got some personal problems whole thing broke up and then Micha from Klasma offer us a deal.Personaly I respect a germans undergrond scene and people because you have a lots of sick pervert grindbastards like I am haha, so we were very pleased to make a deal with people from Germany.


Does it give in the meantime current material of Scared, does work it or are new records planned?

We are on the rehearsals again, trying to make some new cool songs for next demo or album perhaps. New songs will be much various between themselfs.We are going to combine slow "Obituary riffs" with primitive old napalm grinding like on the first demo and some songs will have a complex structure and riffs still we are much better musicians now then before 5 years.I think so.


How we know all, on the Balkans in the last years some happened. It was not easy to live a normal life in those times or to play music. Did these things manipulate your music? Or did you seperate music and this things happend in your enviroment?

Well we have much problems in Serbia and Montenegro (thats a new name for Yugoslavia!) in 1999. Whole band was for democratic changes in the country ,we were on reunions against our former president so Maxa lyrics are mainly written about that stuff.Still in Serbia shit remains new goverment is like the old one and we are living bad and shity like before.Nato assault was a biggest shit in our band history.We were drinking beer all fucking day no one get the army call so that was cool time for us when we were drunk. That year we could not play a gig many gigs were canceled and that time we had a great desire to play and to make new songs. Poltics and the condition in the country did not manipulate our music. We are trying to play agressive noisy music and thats all. Fuck the lyrics music is the main thing! Who can understand the lyrics when listening F.E.T.O album or Mentally murdered, Regurgitate, early Carcass, Cannibal Corpse.I cant figured it out but like Mr.Tardy from Obituary says "Whrooaaring is cool"!


Scared is for me the first Grindcoreband from Serbia, which I recognize. But since you do not certainly take only in the area the those the guitars into the hand? How is the scene general in Serbia you?


We have many GC,DM,BM bands. Acroholia is still our most legendary band for GC music. (I have an honor to play now with them again). Androphagous is great band still they have got only two songs recorded but I have a luck to hear them alive in 1995 .Stone to Flesh and May result are also serious bands, Stone to Flesh is now recording a new album Kozeljnik says that it
gonna be in "old way". Heretical Guilt is cool band,very very complex guitar riffs and growling from deepest holes from hell by Pedja made this band famous and "band for influence" for a short time in Belgrade. Also we have a some grinddeath/crust bands like Analni Karakter these guys are killers for my taste! Disenthral from Kraljevo, No Abuse from Novi Sad, Kramp from Belgrade. Amon Din, Simargal, Enjoy Sarma are also have many fans around the Serbia but I think that they are more outside of underground scene.


And now times to your two demos. Was noticeable to me when hearing, which pays attention it with the music nevertheless partially much to the individual instruments, which one can hear and notice it clearly defined. That is not typical, for Grindcore, where a sound mash from singing and music is to be all too often only heard. One can hear now and then some Solis. I find thereby the music am interesting enriched. Also was this your goal?

Well no. All that stuff is made I would say occasionally.Marko made most of the songs and rest of the band were trying to make a best arangments of riffs and breakes.We are mostly jaming with new riffs and when we think that something is cool we remember it. Lyrics are done when music is finished. I think that we play grindcore but not 100%, we like to combine it with death
and HC sound still not too good for now like Dying Fetus works.


Your lyrics has quite thoughtfully statements and to limit itself not only to carnage and fiction. Tell us something about your songs and lyrics.

Like I said Maxa written all lyrics about shit in the country, world. Every member of Scared have his own look on politics and religion. Bunika is anarchopunk and he likes socialism, Maxa is democrat, Marko thinks like his girlfriend hahaha, and I believe in socialism with real serbian devotion.


On the two demos one finds also the songs "Hey Joe" from Jimi Hendrix and "Erlkonig". Tell us something about.

In Hey Joe we were killing our former president instead of girl who was shot in Jimis cult song. S.Milosevic was our main target before but now it seems that he wasnt so bad like we thought .Are you watching a trial in Hag? No one in Serbia doesnt think that he is war criminal. He is fucking communist pig who destroy and robbed his own people inside of Serbia.
